Shopping for the best lines

It’s just another average day, driving down the road. You look down and notice it’s time to fuel up the ol’ truck. As you begin scanning for gas stations, you see one charging 2.83/gal and one right next to it charging 2.69/gal. I think we can all agree on which one we’re stopping at!

Sports betting should be no different! The only thing worse than watching your favorite NFL team lose on a Monday night, is betting them at +6.5 and watching them lose by 7!

Do not underestimate the importance of line shopping. With so many different sportsbooks available now, it’s become rare to not be able to pick up at least a half point of value by shopping around between books. We suggest that you have a minimum of three books that you bet regularly with to shop lines from. Some books have sharper lines, while others notoriously shade the favorites (creating extra value on underdogs). Do not overlook the importance of this in money line bet sports (e.g., baseball and hockey) either. While it might not seem like a big deal to lay an extra 5 cents on a particular game’s money line, over a full season this will add up tremendously!

Another tip to keep in mind, with so many new up and coming sportsbooks out there, the sign up bonuses at a lot of these books are at an unprecedented level! Do yourself a favor, and take advantage of some of this free money being given out, while also creating options for yourself to shop the best line on every game!
